A student-led triumph at the WEEN 10th Anniversary

The Digital Health Hub for AMR proudly sponsored the 10th Anniversary Event of the Wales Ecology and Evolution Network (WEEN), held at the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) in Machynlleth. This event brought together early career researchers from Cardiff, Bangor, Swansea, and Aberystwyth, fostering collaboration and innovation across the life sciences.

The conference featured engaging talks and poster presentations covering genetics, microbiology, aquatic ecology, and more. Highlights included a keynote by Dr. William Perry from Cardiff University, who shared his diverse research journey, and a standout presentation by Sophia Coveney on sea turtle diets using DNA metabarcoding.

Rande Dzay, Postgraduate Researcher, reflected on the event, “This conference truly exemplifies the power of interdisciplinary thinking and the potential of early career researchers to drive innovation.”

The Hub's support underscored its commitment to advancing scientific collaboration and nurturing the next generation of researchers in tackling antimicrobial resistance.
