Launch Event: Digital Health Hub for AMR

In March 2024, we saw over 120 members across our hub consortium, industry partners, funders, key stakeholders and members of the public attend our launch event for the Digital Health Hub for AMR at Wellcome Collection, London.

This event provided a platform to showcase our varied activities across the hub, including additionally external speakers and various panel discussions of key topics within the field of Antimicrobial Resistance and Digital Health.

The morning session welcomed a Director’s talk from Professor Rachel McKendry, followed by a talk from Dr Colin Brown (UKHSA) on Digital Challenges for AMR. Dr Kitty Healey, representing Veterinary Medicine Directorate, spoke on AMR in Animal Health.

Spotlight talks covered future training opportunities across the hub and were split into two themes: academic and industry. Academic speakers included Dr Jo Gibbs (Institute for Global Health, UCL); Dr Fabiana Lorencatto (Centre for Behaviour Change, UCL); Prof Becky Shipley (Institute of Healthcare Engineering, UCL). Our partner industry groups providing spotlight talks included Roche Diagnostics, Faculty AI, ARUP and CDI/Amazon Web Services.

The final sessions of the day were two panels, welcoming a vast array of experts across AMR and Digital Health to discuss key questions and provide an opportunity for audience Q&A. Panel 1 (chaired by Dr Colin Brown, UK HSA) was a cross-government panel including members across devolved nations, and Panel 2 (chaired by Prof Davey Jones, Bangor university) was an Environmental AMR panel, with a particular focus on discussing the growing field of wastewater epidemiology for AMR.

Students and postdoctoral students also presented relevant research posters as part of our poster session.

The event was recorded and in due course, the sessions will be available to view online on our website. To stay up to date with our future events, please see our news page.
