UKHSA updates Antibiotic Classification List to support AMR Stewardship

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) recently published an update to the UK’s antimicrobial stewardship tool to support responsible prescribing.

This vital tool, based on the World Health Organisation's AWaRe classification system, guides prescribers in responsible antibiotic use to combat the growing threat of AMR.

UK-AWaRe classification remains pivotal in helping achieve the UK’s 20-year vision to contain and control AMR, as well as supporting targets set in the UK National Action Plan for AMR 2024 to 2029.

Featuring insights from The Digital Health AMR Hub’s Co-Director Colin Brown, the update highlights how evidence-based prescribing strategies are essential to maintaining the long-term effectiveness of antibiotics.
