UKHSA staff complete training on data science for AMR

Last week, the Digital Health Hub for AMR, in collaboration with UCL’s Centre for Advanced Research Computing (ARC) delivered a five-day workshop designed to equip UKHSA epidemiologists with essential data science skills.

This interactive course introduced key tools and concepts for reproducible data science, focusing on the R programming language, version control with Git and GitHub, and working with databases. The sessions provided practical guidance on structuring analyses, automating tasks, and improving efficiency in surveillance reporting.

Participants responded positively to the training, with 90% agreeing they felt comfortable in the learning environment. Many also reported feeling more confident in using R and version control tools.

"Excellent workshop, very useful. I think it could even be longer!"

It was fantastic to see such strong engagement and enthusiasm from attendees. We look forward to delivering further training opportunities to support professionals in applying data science tools to AMR and beyond.
